experi-mental
I’ve been quiet and off-line a lot lately, because the computer troubles I had related to my new HDD have not died out completely. It’s been hair-pulling, heavy-drinking, sailor-cussing fun around here, with hours and hours of research, investigation, surmising, guesswork, installation and uninstallation, boots, reboots, patches and fixes. It almost made me buy a Mac.
Instead, I have a newfound suspicion of the entire Norton suite of products, and serious questions about Wacom customer service. Even so, I’ll risk a jinx and go so far as to say that, at this moment, eveyrthing appears to be working.
I did lose some files created over the past two weeks, including emails, so if you’re expecting a repsonse from me and I don’t get back to you in six months, you can either assume I’m dead, or your message was deleted, and I forgot what we were talking about.
In the good news department, stats are up for the website– in some cases, way up. Daily average visits are 10 times what they were last year when I began the self-hosted blog, total hits approaching 300,000 per month, and pages hovering around 125,000, hardly any of them 404 errors.
The gallery has superceded the blog as the page most accessed, though that may have more to do with the structure of that part of the site. Coming up in third place is the comic page, which hasn’t been forgotten about, but kind of needs a working computer to update.
And people still come across my name when searching for groovy wallpaper, groovy backgrounds, black widows, summer, rain and 50 Reasons (still available).
So who’s complaining?
