When Ordinary Canadian turns on a radio or TV and hears or sees a packaged show from abroad, or reads a newspaper consisting of wire service stories and stock photography; when writers, performers, musicians and photographers take their craft and spend their income elsewhere; when festivals and fairs shut down, when retailers and producers and publishers close their doors– Ordinary Canadian’s life will be a little bit drearier, a little bit less remarkable, a little bit less Canadian and a little bit more Ordinary.
“I don’t think he’s taking into account that it affects every single part of our life, every day, right? Doesn’t matter what’s going on: If you’re driving to work; turning on the radio; music; listening to any kind of newscast; information. It’s all part of culture.”
